In the project that would not end we finally completed the straw bale milking barn for winter. In this series we add doors and windows as well as colored mortar. In a future series of videos we eventually decorate is and celebrate Chrismas in it.

  • Did you know that in many parts of Africa they use cow manure as their mortar because they say when the cow manure dries it is supposed to be water proof. It was on one of those WEDU Nova TV shows.

  • @JuliaP777 Didn't know they use it in Africa too. Cow dung is a wonderful building material. We used it on the outside of our wood fired earth oven and enjoyed working with it very much. Really the dung from cows is as valuable as the milk! Thank you for your comment. Leslie

  • Your videos are very interesting and educational to watch. If I might make a suggestion that would help viewers like myself. If at the beginning of the videos you would give the date that you are shooting. Example: This is Feb. 18, 2008...

It seems like some of the videos are out of order, I started from the first video and worked my way up to the present, so stating the date of shooting would certainly help. Thanks again for such wonderful videos.

  • Out buildings are looking awesome.
