  • This dude is TOTALLY wrong. A surgical technician and a PA-C (Surgical) are very different. And their pay is ALSO very different.

To FIX Dr. Dumbass's crappy vid:

Surg. Tech. Schooling - 2-4 years

Surg. Tech. Pay - $35-45,000.00 annually

Surgical PA-C Schooling - you need a MASTERS degree (about 6 yrs)

Surgical PA-C pay - Anywhere between $65,000 and $200,000.00 annually.

  • WOW! This guy is way off! A surgical physician assistant requires a Master's degree which takes a minimum of 6 years to obtain. They practice medicine under a physician. They diagnose and treat disease and prescribe medicine. He seems to be describing an OR tech in the video.

  • surgical physician assistant is NOT a PA

PA's are highly skilled and highly trained medical providers.

PA's start at 75k per year for a brand new grad with no experience

PA's top out at around 175K for fields like CT surgery

PA's are not merely 'assistants' and in fact in my state we can write Schedule II-VI drugs, and manage every aspect of patient care. We are in fact the future of medicine in this country

  • wow, he needs some education. absolutely terrible video.

  • Dang, for all of these really rude responses I bet no one really watched the entire video. He actually says "...and that's not to be confused with a Physician Assistant..." (time 1:10). I am a Pre-PA student so trust me I DO know the difference between the two in order to prepare for the interview and my career. At the beginning my feathers were ruffled too but if you watch the entire thing he does clarify. I guess all the more reason to encourage the name change from assistant to associate.

  • i am about to sue this ehow.com for providing wrong information on PA.

  • I am an independent surgical PA-C, and I collected $180,000.00 last year. Don't be taken advantage of, surgeons are making big money off their PA's, and working them like slaves. Know what your bringing into the practice, and have a structured bonus plan, not an empty promise.

  • Educational Plan Per Profession;

High School>2 yr Associates Degree>license = Surgical Technician

    High School>4 yr Bachelors Degree> 2yr PA school> License= Physician Assistant

    HS>4yr Bachelors> 4yrMedical School>3+yrResidency>License= dumb ass

  • Its obvious folks, This man is talking out of his ass..

  • Dr. Dipshit....

  • PA programs offer certificates (if you already have a BS), BS in PA, or MS.. you dont NEED a MS, but I think I know what you mean..
