I can understand Lucas simply wanting to improve the special effects. I can even understand Lucas making tiny change after tiny change and re-releasing the movie over and over again so he can make a shitzillion dollars. What I CAN'T understand are POINTLESS changes like this that make the film worse because it changes Solo's character. Also, there is no goddamn way that Greedo can miss Solo from 3 feet away.

Today I am enjoying the theatrical release included on the 2006 DVD bonus disc. I don't mind that it's non-anamorphic; I think it looks great.

Pick up the 2006 limited editions on Amazon; they have the original theatrical versions. Let me tell ya, when you watch these versions, it is a holy experience. Forget about everything else. Forget the prequels, the tv series, everything. Get the originals and watch it like you've never heard of it.

Hey kiddies.....it's probably mentioned somewhere else here (but I'm too lazy to scroll through and look)....

In the original 1977 release of Star Wars (before they stuck the "Episode IV: A New Hope" label on it).....not only did Han shoot first.....but Greedo didn't even get a shot off. Han shot.....and he was the only one to fire.

Sorry....it's a fact :)
