Over the past decade, the undersea robots known as autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) have become increasingly important in oceanographic research. MBARI engineers recently demonstrated a new super-efficient AUV that can travel rapidly for hundreds of kilometers, "hover" in the water for weeks at a time, and carry a wide variety of instruments. • So soon we'll have robots like the ones in Halo. Designed by an incredibly advanced species to autonomously observe and collect data.

We should try to get over that whole pollution thing.

  • @htirah100 It is autonomous, that is you don't need to control it. An ROV needs to be manually controlled, and you need a ship to launch it from. It also needs an umbilical to connect it to the vessel. The UAV is much cheaper and can, as said in the video, stay underwater for a very long period and travel wherever it is programmed to go.

  • whats the diffrence between ROV AND AUV?

  • solar power that baby.
