2 pedestrians killed, hit by police deputy driving without sirens going 65mph plus in a 35mph zone

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. () -- A crash involving a sheriff's deputy in Bakersfield has left two people dead.

Witnesses said family members were put in handcuffs as they tried to identify relatives who were hit by the vehicle.

They said the sheriff's deputy was driving fast and without his sirens on when he struck two pedestrians.

"That's just sad because that cop didn't even turn on his lights or nothing. He was going 60 down the road when he hit those people. And he didn't even have his lights on," said witness Sherry Bowden.

Police say 24-year-old Daniel Hiler and 30-year-old Chrystal Jolley were walking a motorcycle across the street when the accident happen.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.

@zep0c0llie In the vid I first saw there was a testimony by RICHIE LEWIS and the SISTER of the young man that was run down, they were originally at the end of the vid and they are not there now. The whole thing though is extremely tragic and disturbing. We are in a police state now and our local police have become highly "Militarized."

I hope Channel 7 does a follow-up story to see that they do a real investigation and not a white-wash cover up.
