Remedy Entertainment's trailer for Max Payne. The first gameplay video ever released shows the game running on an older engine with significant gameplay and story changes, such as Valkyr mutating enemies into large monsters.. (Converted the video to .wmv so the audio should be in sync now.) Check out my profile for the other Max Payne E3 trailers from 1999, 2000 and 2001..

  • finally, a beta that looks WAY worst than the main game!

  • This is really interesting to see, considering this trailer was released in 1998, a good 3 years before Max Payne was actually released. I see they kept some of the gun sound effects. Glad they changed some things, like the boss battles. I do have to say the game world looks really empty and lifeless in this trailer. Not too impressive. Final product turned out to be one of the best action games of all-time.

  • I want this video on my SRD-3000 unit.

  • Wait, this is the first 3D game of all time!

  • 1:12 ghostrider??? :D

  • 2:05 i think this would have been one of the bosses if the valkyr drug actually worked.

  • @xlixity ah good ol' Max. :p

  • @AniCator Max has lost himself now so many times it baffles me...everytime he snaps, he goes on a man killing spree of badassery, only to come to peace with his demons at the end......until the sequels come out.

I really can't see how he snaps again, all the loose knots were tied in "the fall of..." in the "waking from the american dream" part. Apart from say....more survivor's guilt, i cant seem to see how he wants to go brokeback mountain on brazil's ass.

  • @xlixity I hope they made a worthy Max Payne. Sam Lake said that the part where Max shaves his hair off is a turning point in the game where Max becomes Max again. (since Max sort of lost himself after all that had happened)

  • @AniCator they only have like a 0.05% involvement...R* wants to prove they can make more than just GTAs...sadly, i don't think they can. Hope I'm wrong.

  • @xlixity Remedy was working on Alan Wake during the time that Rockstar started production on Max Payne 3. Remedy is involved with Max Payne 3 though. Sam Lake the writer of the first two games gave Rockstar feedback during the production of Max Payne 3. Rockstar even gave them access to builds of the game. (builds are basically like development versions)

  • i am on chapter 3 today :D
