Because of Peter Gabriel's vocal support of those who aren't able stand up for themselves and his support for Amnesty International that got me involved in letter writing for Amnesty - something which I have done for more than 20 years now. I'm sure his passion has encouraged others like me to get involved. He's not just a "white artist jumping on the cause bandwagon". He truly believes what he preaches and puts his money and reputation where his mouth is. I have the utmost respect for him.

peter gabriel is such a cute guy --- whatever bullshit he is ever going to do, to me he is the incarnation of creative passion --

and biko is not only a political statement, but a very beautiful, touching song.

@ScottfromTexas Moron. It is the Arabs that practice aparthied not Israel. Where is multiculturalism in the arab world? Why are Christians killed in Eqypt, why are no other religions allowed in Saudi Arabia? Israel is the most pluralistic country in the middle east.

A high school friend of mine was lucky enough to see this tour at a smallish theatre in Berkeley, CA ni 80-81 time frame. Gabriel was just feet away from him when singing this song and was crying.
