My first turkey fry, after lots of research, I safely did my first deep fried turkey.

* Updated.
I've been getting alot of questions and comments about the type of oil and temps ect.. See below for more information.
********************************************

Kind of oil: Recommended Peanut oil, but Damned expensive. I used frying oil, or canola oil, worked just fine.

Heat up time: Use a long thermomitor, keep it in the oil, and when it gets to 325 - 350 degrees, you're ready.

How much oil: Put the turkey into the empty pot, fill with WATER so the water is just covering the turkey. Remove the turkey and mark the water line. This is how much oil you'll need. (THis is the most important step, you don't want too much oil...unless you have a good fire insurance policy ;)

How long to fry: 3.5 minutes/pound (approx: take it out and use a meat thermomitor to check)

How long to put it in the oil: VERY SLOWLY. you'll notice in my video I took between 2 -3 minutes. Even with the correct amount of oil, putting it in too fast will cause it to spill over. Even the COMPLETELY THAWED turkey still has moisture, that needs to burn off as you put it in the oil, that's why you put a bit in and hold it....lower a bit more and hold...ect, untill the turkey is completly in.

Hope this helps, have a great thanksgiving :)
