It's a movie with very little reality involved. The scarier, the better. It had to be dramatic, remember that they are selling fear to motivate the ' War on Terror '
The planes were the most important part. The buildings coming down is the smoking gun that the event was a scam. Simple physics prove they would still be standing today, but they are gone.

@80sMeavyHetal My main point was this: Why even bother to fly a plane into a building if you already have the building wired with explosives? If explosives were used in the building, then there would be no reason for the plane. I was just suggesting that if explosives were used then they must have been onboard the plane. I'm not sure if explosives were used though, I don't have the knowledge to make an accurate judgment of that.
