  • I've always found this inspirational - that 'many are called, few chosen'. Divine suffering is not worked for, or sought after - that would be masochism - it is an indispensable part of being wounded in order to heal. In the wound is the gift. I love this film - St B had pure grace amidst atrocious pain.

  • Wow she truly was a saint! i have always loved this scene...why i wonder are there no saints around 2day? i dont believe pope john paul is a saint, wasnt he more like a king the man was treated like a God on this earth! where are the true holy people 2day?

  • @al1936ful ..Did pope john paul not live in a palice, did he not have many many servents, did he not have his own army, he was a king not a saint! now saint francis-that was a true holy man!

  • I think I would have taken the mean nun's crap for about 30 minutes before I would have put her head through the wall. In a biblical sense, of course.

  • @lurchers123 John Paul II certainly did not act like a king. You have no idea what a Pope is like if you think he acts like a king. He was the closest to a saint we have had in the modern-day world.

  • amazing scene

  • @babyycat Of course, Protestants may get upset here, if they believe that Mary has no authority to promise anything about the next world. One way to reconcile the potentially conflicting Catholic and Protestant points of view, however, is to say that while Jesus, and not Mary, is the One Who decides whether you make it to the next world (i.e. heaven), Mary can promise you that, if you do make it, you will be happy.

  • @theachtungtree Well, of course, some people are able to separate their real lives from their movie role lives. That is why they call it acting.

  • The look on her face at 2:50 is priceless.

  • One thing to remember is that bitches like Sister Vazous are very common among nuns. Frustrated old maids or whores who, through family money and family connections, use the convent as an escape. Many, if not most, people who attended a pre-Vatican II parochial school can tell stories about nuns whacking kids on the knuckles with a ruler and inflicting other physical and psychological abuse. Thank goodness the church is being called to account for its actions!
