Mom talks about a mining town we lived in high in the Rockies that's a ghost town now. Part of a series.

  • I visited Gilman in the summer of 2009, and took a bunch of pictures. I've had them floating around for awhile, but finally got around to posting them. I can't post a link here, but if you're interested, you can find them on Photobucket by searching for sigcrazy7 + Gilman.

I was moved by the feelings I got while there. Thanks for your Mom's recollections. It just adds to the humanity I felt there, the remnants of our lives after we no longer toil.

  • @sigcrazy7

  • @sigcrazy7 there isn't very much patroling now ^ ^

  • @sigcrazy7 I looked at your pics and they where great! I went there more recently and the basements ALL looklike they should be infested with zombies TTATT

  • @sigcrazy7 Do you know of any ghost towns worth visiting along I-70 and CO-9 or CO-67 (Phantom Canyon Road) I've heard Nevadaville by Idaho Springs is still there. Any info would be helpful.

  • @FlyingPhoAddict

It is privately owned, and is patrolled heavily. If you are caught there, it is a trespassing charge. If they notice any cars parked along the hwy, they'll come looking for you. At least that was the deal in 2009 when I went there.

Try this link with HTeeTeePeeColonSlashSlash s551dotphotobucktdotcom on the front. /albums/ii472/sigcrazy7/Gilman%20CO%20-%20A%20%20western%20ghost%20town%20as%20of%20July%202009/

  • @sigcrazy7 Is it true Gilman is now under control by the EPA and you can get arrested for being there now.... I was gonna go there when the guys and I go up to Colorado this summer for my 21st bday.

  • @marquisdejolie

Sorry. Try searching Photobucket just for "gilman co". I just tried and found a bunch of them. That should lead you back to the complete album.
