This presentation was made by using Rock Band drums as a MIDI input into Quartz Composer to control the visualizer, as well as a Wiimote. The audio was done separately using Ableton Live and a MIDI controller keyboard. Other programs used: Photoshop, Motion, and GarageBand.

A new type of interactive audio visual performance for Humanities class at Moorpark College. March 5, 2009.

  • thats really neat, can you tell more about the configuration?

  • Absolutely. Terrence uses Rockband drums connected to a computer via USB (using JunXion) along with a program Quartz Composer by Apple so he can control the visuals using the drum pad and bass pedal (which rotates through the different visuals). Matt uses Ableton Live along with a midi keyboard to control the sound and has a wiimote that can control the visualizer as well. Meanwhile, Megan and Curtis are live painting to the music on the left.

  • Listen for "On The Run" by Pink Floyd at 1:12

  • Whats so funny? Were you in that class?

  • Hahaha.

  • My Ghost Rider was better. But I liked all the others very creative.

  • Who's face is that at 0:59. Looks like Arnold Swarzenegger in the Running man when they put him in that high speed ride.

  • I didn't know someone was filming this I would have smiled and waved.

  • I remember that day. I was supposed to go to Disneyland that day. But I didn't, cause of an exam I had.

  • I'm in that class. I thought it was good but disturbing. I liked it but for some reason I don't want to like it. I felt insulted as artist that I work hard using my hands and my mind. And along comes this computer that replaces me.
