Hello butchered versions of great anime. Welcome to America, the land of fail dubbs
-
On the plus side... if this butchered and randomly translated version had never made it's way over here in the 80s, they might not have done the excellent 2004 remake.

And before i read any trash about me being "screaming anime fanboy" for preferring the original, the really real for realz original, dont even bother. Many anime and cartoons hire voice actors because they have talent as voice actors. My ptoblem with disney dubs is that they have too much money to pay voice actors. they need to use big time screen actors, who almost always have about as much voice talent as one of my drunken karaoke performances: i.e. none

@Heddy166 learn what you speak before making an ass out of yourself. There is no directors cut, new world films CANT buy back a film they never owned, and there is nothing "anine fanboy" about liking an artists original work before some hacks mutilated it (illegally). Disneys voiceovers destroy the quality of ghibli films, and i wont side with anyone favoring disney, but the ghibli is good. Not trashing anyone elses tastes, make your own opinions, but dont tout idiocy as fact

I saw this version when little. My mother had it as a bad copy. I'd never seen the confusing box art, but I loved the film as a top favourite. Little did I know, there was a manga that would have so much more depth, and then, finally, the uncut original dub was released to my country! Parts that always had seemed to come out of nowhere finally had smooth transitions, and what the jungle really was in the grand scheme of things finally made sense!
I love both films for one reason or another!

As a kid I saw this movie at the video rental store. Never rented it.

@SergeantLuke It was cut to be more action oriented, so the more cerebral bit's were cut out. In order to sell better as a family film. Go figure. That said, it was a good film on its own. I liked it growing up, and I still do. I still prefer the original manga over either movie tho ^_^

@serratedteeth That's what the Disney release _is_.
-
@serratedteeth Disney did a faithful localisation of the original japanese film, and had nothing to do with the Warriors of the Wind cut. In what way did this "ruin" it? The edits are severe enough that they are essentially completely different films. Don't like Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind? Watch Warriors of the Wind, instead. I happen to like both.
Welcome to America

@vracharismo
Disney did NOT do this cut in 1985, it was New World Pictures. Disney in 2004 re-dubbed and made it uncut ok?
