@MyVersionOfReality Er...that is a different piece. Cello Suite No 5 in C minor BWV 1011. Hence the tone, different key.

What's really crazy is that in a very real sense, all recordings of this movement are just shadows of it. To really hear the movement it needs to be live and in a church. A lot of those low notes are actually used as pedal-tones, which the sanctuary walls bounce around in a way that actually adds chords and melodic lines to the piece.
Bach had been writing church music for years when he got around to these, and he knew how to use the acoustics as a second instrument.
