People and governments are trying to make a statement. Is is NOT so much about how much energy is saved during that hour, but about showing how much YOU CARE! I hate people commenting "it is not that much you are saving", or "they guys on the hel icopter spent more fuel..." I will switch off because I care about the planet my baby is gonna live in.

That's kind of hypocritcal flying a helicopter around the statue for awareness of energy consumption. Aviation fuel is hardly cheap or environmentally friendly. That's quite the footprint.
