holy shit, i get to hear the whole album played straight through tomorrow in atlanta, kinda sad i wont be hearing to many of the old songs.

wow alotta people find it hard to face the truth lol. but it matters to me imo. Truth is, when bands sign on to major labels, they get commercialized, then instead of writing GOOD music that they wrote before, they write stuff that the labels want them to. It's sad but true. There are countless examples of this in the music industry, which is why i sad "learn" before giving me a thumbs down. I'm not trying to annoy people, only educate them, but sometimes it's hard to do one without the other.

good thing the decemberists aren't one of those bands that are just wiriting what the label says, right?

Honestly. They wrote a pretentious, lengthy rock opera [which is amazing]. There is a truth to what you said about commercializing music, though

It's hard to believe the album was in such similar state so long ago. The lack of the loud rock music in what would become "A Bower Scene" was pretty funny to hear too.
