Most of the information available online relates to flaps - not flaperons - using the 3 position switch. Flaperons can also be programmed using 2 way switches or pot switches, using the FLAPERON submenu, however, this requires adjustment of the servo linkages. I wanted to program true 3 position flaperons, and also provide up-elevator for added stability.

My 6Ch Receiver is setup as follows:

Ch1 - Aileron 1
Ch2 - Elevator
Ch3 - ESC (throttle)
Ch4 - Rudder
Ch5 - empty (GYR or gear channel on Tx)
Ch6 - Aileron 2 (FLP or flaps channel on Tx)

Assign Ch5 to the Throttle Hold switch in the AUX CH submenu. This allows the Throttle Hold switch to operate all of the logic associated with GYR or the gear channel (Ch 5). You can also place your beeper or plane locator on Ch 5 on your receiver.

Make sure the Flaperon submenu is not being used, and it is set to INH (inhibited) and not ACT (active).

The following mixes are used:

MIX 1 (dual aileron mix)
STATE ACT
MASTER AIL
SLAVE FLP
OFFSET 000
UPRATE 100
DNRATE 100
SW ON

MIX 2 (Sets Aileron 1 to fully deployed flaperon position w/ ID2 input)
STATE ACT
MASTER GYR
SLAVE AIL
OFFSET 000
UPRATE 000
DNRATE 100
SW ID2

MIX 3 (Sets Aileron 2 to fully deployed flaperon position w/ ID2 input)
STATE ACT
MASTER GYR
SLAVE FLP
OFFSET 000
UPRATE 000
DNRATE -100
SW ID2

MIX 4 (Sets Aileron 1 to half deployed flaperon position w/ ID1 input)
STATE ACT
MASTER GYR
SLAVE AIL
OFFSET 000
UPRATE 000
DNRATE 50
SW ID1

MIX 5 (Sets Aileron 2 to half deployed flaperon position w/ ID1 input)
STATE ACT
MASTER GYR
SLAVE FLP
OFFSET 000
UPRATE 000
DNRATE -50
SW ID1

MIX 6 (Adds some up-elevator with ID1)
STATE ACT
MASTER GYR
SLAVE ELE
SW ID1
Tuned to: L @35%

MIX 7 (Adds more up-elevator with ID2)
STATE ACT
MASTER GYR
SLAVE ELE
SW ID2
Tuned to: L @15%

That should do it. Remember to use the MENU button to exit submenus, do not use the EXIT button or you will not store the new data. You may need to field adjust input levels to fit your model.

The Turnigy 9x is my first programmable TX, and this was my first attempt at using it. Please feel free to comment.

Aloha!

  • i assume you tried the throttle hold switch. that's the on/off for the flaperons. made sure you disabled the flaperon menu?

  • can you describe what isn't working? how many channels is your RX? do any of the servos respond to the mixes?

  • Hi, Thanks for great video. How can I remove the effect of the switch on elevator. I mean what if I like only 2 position of flapperon.

    Thanks

  • @imanplus if you don't want the elevator to move, just skip the last two mixes. Don't include them.

  • WHAT DO YOU THINK WORKS BETTER.... FLAPS OR FLAPPERONS???? THANKS

  • @VETTE811 flaps are always better for more control options, but our planes don't always have them so this is a cheat way to use them

Got it from Hobbypartz com when hobbyking was out of stock cost about same after shipping

anyway it came with instruction manual and it was terribly written couldnt understand any of it s

so this video was huge help

    thanks

  • i did everything you said and i cant get the flaps to work

  • it dont work

  • dont work, i have the exact radio, set it up just like you did and I only have ailerons. no flaps, no flaperons, no spoilerons. the only mix i configured other then that was elevons ons id1 sw with ailerons. did every configuration i could think of and nothing works to get ailerons to move together as flaps and ailerons or spoilerons. not happy. complicated, junk, ext mixers would be so much easier and better.

  • @passatiji

    Just checked my servo died.

After the servo was replaced everything works.

    Thank you!
