A solenoid motor based on my Two Banger II design. It uses two hand wound solenoids and one Cherry micro switch. One solenoid is wired to the NC contacts and the other solenoid to the NO contacts. I started work on this solenoid motor over 3 years ago and it ran for the first time 12/31/09 11:59pm.

  • Thats one sweet little engine as are all of your designs ive seen so far very nice work can't wait to see more of it. Check out the vid. I made of my first engine it's not as professionally done as yours but it does run good.

  • @mime111111 , I will be posting this motor again as I have skeletonized the frame to better show the inner workings.

  • nice made crankshaft!

  • I have some "oilfield" styled solenoid motor movies. Check out all of my videos at my YouTube Channel. Just search for "mascobe".

  • for practice id like to make one with a conventional style crankshaft and conrod like a gas engine but set up more like an old oilfield engine with twin flywheels. that way, i could modify it to a opposed twin but with only one bearing journal with one each side 180degrees from the other

  • Check out my Two Banger II videos; That motor can be built with just a drill press and simple hand tools...

  • if my gramps had all of his machining equipment dug out i would attempt making a "simple" (and i use that term lighty lol) opposed 2cylinder solenoid motor for display. i have a few antique gas engines and a couple pre-WW2 electric motors, but i havnt gotten a solenoid motor yet. its on my list though lol

  • Yup!

I am bummed that the audio didn't transfer properly. It makes such a cool sound when running too. Once I get the wires neatened up I will post a new video.

  • i totally understand, dont want an idea let out too quickly?

  • Uuuuh,.. -not sure if I want everyone to know how it works just yet...
