Guns do kill people, you know. If no one had guns, fewer people would die. You're gonan use a gun to just smack someone one the face? No, if you have a gun in your hand, you shoot it, you don't club with it. Firearms are overkill, and do damage than needed. Also, in sweden we don't own guns, normally. See us having problems? Less weapons = less violence. A burglar comes into your house with a gun: Now, if you point a gun back at him, someone's gonna die. If you don't, he might steal and leave.

I disagree... Guns do NOT kill people . I have yet to see a gun walk across the street by its self and kill. People USE guns and many other weapons to harm. You can not compare Sweden to the States regarding violence. We have 300 million people here....And this country would still be under the Queens thumb if it was not for people owning guns and willing to fight.

@grallator I agree guns DO kill people. Therefore people should NOT be allowed to them. People make bad decisions. In the heat of passion and anger, one can make a bad decision that does irrepritalble harm.  Just as heroine kills people, so does guns. If heroine can be outlawed then so should guns. Until Cocaine, Heroine, X & the list of other illegal drugs become legal, then guns should be illegal also. Because drugs & guns kill people at the hands of human misjudgement.

It doesn`t matter why the forefathers used guns in the first place. Times have certainly changed, and there is no reason to use this dogmatic thinking to justify owning a weapon. Gun control works, why not keep it that way?

I agree that people should get to own whatever they want to, including fully automatic rifles. I just can't see past the fact that lives are lost when they didn't have to be. Swedish is only 9 million people, but at least those 9 million are not fighting with guns too often. So we're a 30th of your size, but we have at least 100 times less of gun violence per citizen, if I remember the statistics correctly. Same goes for almost every other country, apart from USA.
