250 mill workers lost their jobs today when Idaho Forest Group bought the Lewiston based Clearwater Paper Mill. The company is valued at approximately $30 million. This is a strategic purchase by Idaho Forest Group who is thought to have sites on the lucrative opportunities available if public lands near Grangeville are swapped in the Lochsa Land Exchange to Western Pacific Timber.
This is just another example of corporate greed taking away worker's jobs. The folks who were laid off are sooooo fucked. The new owners say they're going to re-hire about half, or less of the laid off workers, but they don't tell you that the new hires will receive far less in wages and benefits. When will workers wake up and realize that the u.s. is no longer a democratic republic, but a corporatocracy.... of, by and for the rich. STOP WATCHING FOX... AND STOP VOTING FOR REPUBLICANS IDAHO!!
