  • Incredible stuff! These stumbling left hand walks are what really 'kicks' in the stride style.

You are very fortunate to have the needed stretch on the left for these wonderful Pete (not James!) Johnson moves I always admired and can't even reach.

The improvised blues is just beautifully arranged - you deserve a better, well tuned instrument, to match the sound of your relaxed playing.

Puts my traditional Blues clips to shame.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for your comments. We checked out your Freddie Slack video and it is quite good. You establish a solid groove that maintains itself through the right hand ideas. This is really important in any kind of blues playing.

Don't be concerned about "hand stretch" for stride. One of my teachers, Johnny Guarnieri, had very small hands and yet played some of the greatest stride you will ever hear. The trick is: be inventive! Also check out videos of Willie "The Lion" playing l.h.stride.
