CORRECTION: On the word 'shelacking', or in Hausa, "shalakin", in my earlier posting, I said it was at (2:22). But actually, it is at (2:19) thru (2:22). That is where Sani Danja said "gaskiya ta shalake" karya. Meaning that "the truth devestated the fulsehood". Or "the truth won over the fulsehood" etc. Please accept my apology. Thanks.

After the 2010 mid-term election, in the US, (where the Republicans took control of the House, took many states governership), President Obama used the word 'shelacking', in the context that the Democrats took a 'beating', from the Republicans.

Well, a lot of media outlets said that President Obama 'coined' the word 'Shelacking'.

In reality, he did not coin the word. 'Shelacking' or 'shelakin' is a Hausa word. Listen to it here, when Sani Danja said "gaskiya ta shalake karya" (2:22).
