@phartattack I don't know if he knows how to skim coat...I think it was just easier I guess for him not to do all that priming. I hope when I see it, the imperfections don't show through too much. It was the kitchen walls. I see you're in San Antonio, TX. I'm moving to Dallas, TX in two months from NY. So I haven't even seen out it's coming out until I get there.

Thank you! My painter suggested just texturing the walls to hide the imperfections. I haven't see how it came out yet, but I hope this worked. He said it was easier to do it this way since I'm paying him by the hour.

@nycgirl56 So, your painter doesn't know how to skim coat... He/She could still skim the bad sections. any imperfections will still show through the texture.

I had wall paper removed from my kitchen. It was so old that as it came off, it tore off some of the paper from the sheet rock. Now I can't paint over it without the tears showing through. What would you say is the correct way to prepare the walls for painting?

@nycgirl56 Skim coat the walls with a thin coat of joint compound and sand them smooth afterwards. Next texture it with a watered down mix of the joint compound. (Thickness of honey)... Prime and paint!
