Just a comment @klatu62....If Jimi Hendrix favored the style of Eddie and looked up to him (not saying that Eddie wasn't a great guitarist, which he was), but Hendrix would have been looking up to someone very much his junior. Hendrix was already in the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and playing guitar when Eddie was only a pre-teen. Hendrix was about to hit the scene in England in '66. By then, he'd already played with several well noted American musicians.

Yesterday I watched the memorial in Newark NJ,and what really got me was that there was so much joy amongst allthe grief,It hit me when the priest actually sipped from a cup of coffee...free and joy.Going to the House of the Lord.Maybe this is not so bad,we make it so dark, sad and blue.Whitney Houston was so bright,so sad and blue, yet so bright.Bright in so many ways.I am talking about bebe, about all...

That is Michael Kidd Funkadelic Hampton on this version, boy can the kidd play. This version is off the "One Nation Under a Groove album" Micheal cuts up at the end

Pretty sure this is Mike Hampton playing in Houston, its not actually Eddie playing. I'd post the link but i cant be arsed, search for the vid its on youtube and its epic, Hampton looks like a mad nasty wizard :P Incredible playing from Hampton, nuff respect for the composition to Eddie, no need to bring up Jimi, but since some cats did, heres my 2p's worth. Jimi is the best individual soloist ever, no-one matches the vibe or the soul, he is just a Shaman of sound. :)

Wait, what? JFK. Lets not lose the fact that was 63 and Eddy was tripping balls for 5 years straight in the 70's

Love it but its a little heavy on the Jimi tribute.Inspiration is inspriation, but this is Eddy's manifesto. Beautiful...

I love the guitaring but hated the stupid background monologues.

Why all the pictures and audio of Jimi, this song belongs to Eddie Hazel, please give credit where credit is due. Otherwise, the most brilliant live version.
-
why has this song now become a black rights activist song? lol.
-
Hazel said hendrix was his inlfuence and eddie came after him, just saying
thanx to you all for loving great music and the great artist who inspire us to be GREAT PEOPLE!
