From the album "Tooth, Fang and Claw" (1974)
A frantic cover version of Chuck Berry's song. I love how Ted uses feedback from his hollowbody Byrdland in the middle of the song!

  • That bass player is insane ! Thanks for posting this, Hibernation and Freeflight-3 of my top 5 Nude related songs ! (I also like a Thousand knives and Live it up)

  • Both albums "Call of the Wild" and "Tooth, Fang and Claw" have excellent bass work! The intro of "Hibernation" is an excellent example of inventive bass playing, by using diads instead of only single notes.

Needless to say, I am a big fan of Ted's music.

  • Thanks for posting "Free Flight" and "Maybelline." The Best Version of this Song ever!! I'm 46 Have Seen Ted Probably 20 times in 31 Years And Prayed he Would play either one of these songs but he didnt. But at least i can hear him now...thanks!!

  • No problemo...I am glad that I could be of service! Ted probably has never played Free Flight in concert because there are complex, overlaid guitar harmonies in the song.

People want to hear the popular hit songs when they attend a concert. It is a pity because there are many good songs by the Nuge that do not get airplay, such as: "Saddle Sore" (State of Shock) or "Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine" (Weekend Warriors).

  • @schoonymopar -Dude, cool the jets. Ted is the one who has to grind it out, due to his own admitted lack of financial oversight at the most profitable and high points of his career. The guy can't quit working and live off millions of dollars supposedly stashed away. He has a lot of bills and a couple of minor children out of wedlock to pay for. Most of his contemporaries have retired, if you take a look around.

  • @GonzGunner has to grind it out ha the man is a stinking fucken rich he could stop working at anytime and not spend all of his money and he has done it all his way !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Consider yourself HIT, baybay! You're welcome!

  • Man, I wonder if George Jones and Johnny Paycheck heard this version before they recorded their 1979 duet version of Maybelline?

  • Mr. Vic Mastrianni was magnificient on the drums while drumming on the Call of the Wild album and the Tooth, Fang and Claw album.

  • VIC MASTRIANI WS GREAT VERY UNDERATED DRUMMER ON TFC & CALL OF THE WILD.

  • This song rocks--big time!! HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

  • @Jovanbob As a former bass player I highly agree!

  • Here we go - now here we go

  • Vic Mastriani was one of the best drummers ever but was never rated that way and he was the best drummer Ted ever had & with Rob Le Grainge on bass in those days there was no match.
