It's the same movie, called Boogie Woogie Dream, Ammons and Johnson are moving the piano, painting, wearing painting clothes. It a 20 minute movie. A white guy is a record company owner, Al and Pete are painters/movers the white guy falls asleep and while he's asleep al and pete try out the piano. The white guy has a dream of them. They are only wearing suits / tuxedos in the dream part. The white guys wakes up and cuts them a record deal.

Hi again hyzer, thanks for the prompt reply. If you play that version you'll see it was recorded in 1940.

Freddy Slack Orch 1941 with Don Raye singing. Will Bradley 1940 with "8 beat Mack" singing and Don Raye backup vocals. Freddy slack plays piano on both. The freaky head video is will bradley so yes, 1940. I thought you were talking about the Freddy Slack version, that was 1941

Yes I have to agree, Down The Road Apiece was done by at least 100 people but it was written for Freddy Slack by the great song writer Don Raye in 1941.

The original lyrics for the song have "The drummer man's a guy they call 8-beat Mack and you remember Doc and old Beat me Daddy Slack" referring to 8 beat Ray McKinley, Doc Goldberg and Freddy Slack who were 3 members of Will Bradley Orc who recorded the song. They also recorded Beat Me Daddy 8 to the bar, Scrub Me Mamma, and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, all in 1941.
