1 long beep following by 2 short beeps, video card problem. The Dv2000 sadly is a recalled, defective model, lets just say HP fucked up. This short tutorial will allow you to bring your laptop back from the dead, without opening your laptop. I read this on forums and gave it a shot. IT WORKED!
Reflow technigue:
1.Turn on your laptop with the adapter plugged in.
2.Suffocate/ block the vents, the objective is to heat up the laptop. I use pillows.
3.Wait about 25-40 minutes, till you hear the fan at its loudest.
4.Hold the power off, turn it back on.
5.Comes right back to life.
Sadly, this will only TEMPORALLY remedy the problem, its a good technique for a back-up.
GOOD LUCK!

  • thanks dude had this computer in the cupboard for about three years and you got it working cheers man

  • @JAM1IE Awesome!

  • The reason this works is the faulty BGA solder on the GPU chip. When you heat up the laptop the metal is expanding and making the electrical connections on the chips work for a while.

If you are mad at HP for this crap, let them know!!! send Emails and contact consumer reports!!! The only way to teach them this is wrong is stop buying hp products and tell them why you don't want their products.

  • @epoxeclipse Very informative.

  • Thanks this definitely worked! Do you know if HP will replace the laptop since its a recall?

  • Unfortunately the recall was over 1 year ago. I recommend buying a new motherboard on ebay for cheap and get it installed.

Initially it shuts down on its own a few times..but I didn't give up & let it stand vertically..lolxzx..it got heat up & started..however, comes the BSOD..crap..I tried boot w/ BART PE cd..& viola! nw it came back 2 live! & even works faster!

  • Try to Blow Dry the back off the fan..Well I am doing this for several months already and it only takes you 5 minutes..It;s true you have to heat the videocard chip..so instead of turning and off and on..try blow dry it for 5 minutes and there you go it starts (and it won't heat other hard drives like Hard disk, battery, Rams..

  • i have the same problem bro..... my hp also goes black also and has 3 beeps desame as what have shown.... i try already the tips... but it still doesnt work... " d heating up solution....tsk..tsk..
