Google wants to digitise and sell books online, including many that are out of print, a move that has caused controversy.

In October last year, it reached a landmark settlement in the US, agreeing to pay $125m to provide a Book Rights Registry to protect authors and publishers.

Now Google's plans are going before the European Union, to find ways of digitising millions more books without infringing copyright laws.

Nazanine Moshiri reports from London.
