I wish they would show the full photo. The Kens Burns effect is over used in my opinion. Ansel Adams does not need slideshow gimmicks to stand out.

We know how wonderful the photos are... and love them. What this documentary opened up to me was the depth of character of the man. I found it very moving. I saw this about 20 years (+) ago, but it did not speak to me in the same way then. I don't think that it could have. So glad to have found it again.

Good point, Tim ;-) I reckon I live in a bit of a time warp myself at times... I suspect that I had seen parts of the footage used in this great documentary years ago. I've been a keen follower of Adams' work and books since about 1970.

if you're more concerned about the tool rather than the result you're probably missing the real point of photography. some people can take fantastic pictures with a Holga, some others are completely unable to capture a decent shot with an eos 1d. it's the goddamn photo that makes the difference, not the camera.

I so totally agree with you about over usage of slideshow gimmick with Mr. Adams' spectacular images. What a shame.

You're not doing it justice unless your watching it in HD. Even if you have to wait an hour.. do it.

We had to choose a Photographer to make a lecture about him and his work.

A friend of mine told me Ansel was a good example, I started google him this morning, I was not that impressed in the beginning. But the further i came with reading about him and looking at his pictures, the more i was impressed. Then I watched this Documentary and the Clock is now 8pm in the evening. I now have to say, I love his work and his lifestory is extrodinary and nearly made me cry at the end.
