Alternative Education Program for rural artisans & their children

Supported by: Dr. Peter Larsen, Australian educationalist & philanthropist, Jenny Jones Rugs, Australian retailer, and Jaipur Rugs.

The aim of this project is for women artisans to gain basic literacy & numeracy skills, as well as an understanding of health, hygiene, environment & family life education. This empowers women to increase their earning capacity which in turn will substantially add funds to the family budget.

The program intends to support annually 1,000 of the most disadvantaged adult women and girls from isolated villages in the 10 states of India where JAIPUR artisans are located.

It was initiated at the beginning of 2011 and during 1st year has impacted more then 750 women and girls from 14 villages in Rajasthan state, India.
