deaf child hears via cochlear implants, five hours after activation-first implanted at age three and a half, got an infection and his ci was removed four months ago, now hearing again first day.

  • at first he said it sounded "mousy" or like "chipmunks" compared to before. And each time he goes to the audiologist, they turn it up a little more, he's still getting used to the new devices three weeks out, but he says it sounds normal now. He has the ability to hear at greater distances than he did w/just one ci, but he's forgetting to listen, but he's in listening therapy and getting better at it each day!

  • I'm glad his surgery was a success and is doing well. I am curious, when he hears voices do they sound robotic or natural like a person without implants would hear? Also, what is his range of hearing? Can he hear as far as people who have natural hearing? Just curious as these implants are really incredible.
