Tenor actually, but no matter. What does matter is how music today has been debased. Compare this beautiful melody and so many more from those times...with what we have today, example. "Ah's gonna smack muh bitch. Yes I's gonna do dat." repeated 17 times, that's the entire lyric, and the "music" is pounding boom boom boom. Used to drive the missionaries crazy.
