Generally, we like to voice a Rhodes to have a wide dynamic range, from sounding sweet with a light touch, to lots of bark with a heavy touch. All Rhodes are different though, so some can REALLY bark compared to others.
The suitcase amp also adds some grit in this case, as most of the stage videos we do are run thru a Roland keyboard amp. Put the same piano thru a Hotrod Deville, and it's a whole different ball o' wax!
Hi Fred. I was watching a video of a late '71 Rhodes Stage that you guys restored and the sound was completely different. Not nearly as nasty sounding as this; much more mellow. Is that just due to how it was set up or the hammers or the fact that it's a suitcase and the other was a stage? Thanks.
how much did it go for?

I am also playing this one relatively heavy...
