In war-ravaged Virginia (1864) cavalry trooper Jim Rabb's only solace after the death of his brother is his beloved mare, Jen, a mustang who unexpectedly gives birth to a foal. Although the commanding officer believes the young animal to be a burden and orders Jim to shoot him, he later changes his mind and allows the colt to stay. Although the colt becomes something of an unofficial mascot of the unit, the reality of war is never far away, and not even the promise of new life can erase the tragedy of the conflict between North and South. OMG i watchede this about 3 years ago when i came home sick form school, only watched it as it had the colt in its title, and fell in lvoe ! I cant ebelive its on here thankyou soooo much!!!

You can get it very reasonably on Amazon if you get it used... that's where I purchased it. Hope that helps!
