  • Piratesarrrgreat, on your second querie, you said why should a publisher help a novice writer? well how do you expect that novice writer to get out there if no publisher will get his name out. if you were a writer, you were once a novice writer. it dosnt matter if they are a novice writer, it only matters how well they write.

  • expertvillage, if i'm writing a book proposal, would you think a picture on the title page might grab the attention of a publisher?

  • 1)90% of the nonfiction industry is working on a Query first basis, write a great query and you earn the chance to show the agent or editor your writing. Your books title helps to tell what it is about, good writers have one before writing. When it comes to nonfiction, proposals are what is sold. The book is later written with publisher direction.

2)Agents judge an individuals ability to write by how well they are able to write their query and proposal, backwards I know, but highly effective.

  • @eatsleepjonas22 you write it but don't send it to them in case they dont want it. you send the proposal and if they like it then you send them the finished book

  • All I knowis, nobody who sells, buys or publishes books has time to read all the ones they get sent. You have to give them a small overview of what it will be.

  • I have a few queries:-

    1. Wouldn't the title be much more relevant if you had already wrote the story before naming it?

    2. Why should a publisher want to help a novice writer; a writer that has yet to make a name for himself and somebody that, for all they know, is a teenager who can't score Ds who is going through a phase where he wants to be a writer?

  • wait wait wait...so u dont write the book first?

  • Thank you for a very interesting and informative series. They are by far the best on the videos.
