I haven't had an IPA (let alone a beer) from Colorado in a long time. That's kind of funny because Colorado has a huge craft beer scene and beers from that state definitely have their own collective taste and appeal (not quite west coast, not quite east coast). My brother gave me this bottle for Christmas and since it's a hoppy beer I thought I should drink it before it gets any older.
Season 16, Episode 16
BREWERY'S DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION:
For as long as people have inhabited Colorado's Front Range, the Twin Sisters Peaks have had a strong impact on our sensibilities. Make the trek up the 11,428' peaks for breathtaking views, or enjoy them from afar right here at the brewery. As an expression of admiration we have crafted Twin Sisters Double IPA. This is no ale of singular dimension, for double doesn't just mean double the hops, but double the malt in our book. The balance between these two siblings brings a complexity and depth far too often overlooked. Enjoy!

@StumpyJoeJr I don't tend to buy big beers in bombers for personal consumption because I try to spend as much time exploring new beers. Maharaja is hard to find around here, fresh bottles at least.
Yeah I notice Colorado IPAs tend to be overtly malty and sweet. I don't understand why.

IBUs are kind of meaningless and most breweries don't actually get a lab calculation of them (I doubt Heady Topper is actually 120 IBUs). Perceived bitterness has to do with yeast, malt, pH, proteins, residual sugars, tannins, etc. - it gets complex.
Other than Avery's IPAs, I really don't care for Colorado IPAs since they seem to be real sweet. Did you get the recent batch of Maharaja? They released it again in December.
