Having had A jejuostomy and a colostomy, I know that there's no hard and fast technique to make somthing work. You could do something 100 times and the 101 it would fail. You learn what works and as you get more confident doing it, you'll become more comfortable with it when it leaks.
Everyone's ostomy is different, different things work for different people, It's starters guide for anyone that doesn't have the support of a specialist stoma nurse.
That's not how you do it smart ones. my 5 month old nephew had that on both sides of his tummy and 4 surgeries. I've seen his mom (my sis) change his baggy and u guys are doing it way wrong. oh and wat a fake vid u cud tell her stomach is darker that that wateveruwannacallitthing so yeah
@XxMarviCxX I totally agree - this is utterly pointless and unhelpful to the extent of being mis-leading. If it was for real it would be a different scenario entirely! As you say, it is important to have a new pre-cut bag ready before removing the old one.
You may want to pre-measure and cut next time before you do anything else.........otherwise if this was a real demonstration you can bet your life that mr stoma will gladly come to life as soon as the bag is removed. VERY poor video, unrealistic..pointless.
(remember, the colostomy bag will always be full)
1. remove the seal or the tape around the bag
2. discard the bag in a trash can and take off and save the stick/clip thing(bcuz that end is clean)
3. wipe the area and then put on a new bag and clip the end.
(think about it, why squeeze out the bag, remember it will smell bad and also, there will always be more c.bags at the nurse station.)
4. discard the trash bag, bcuz it will smell bad.

I was able to change my ostomy under 2 mins. It's really not that bad after a few months you don't even notice because it becomes a weekly routine.
UC 3 years, got a 3 part total colectomy. I just finished my last surgery about a month ago. Wish I could have mine back.

This was a great video, the best one I've found actually. I was just wondering if you might post one about irrigating an ostomy?
