Why are some people so worked up by gay marriage? How insecure do you have to be to care whether or not gay people get married?

BTW, I'm wearing another XKCD t-shirt. The tiny writing says "Maybe if this shirt is witty enough someone will finally love me." I really like the shirt but I almost didn't wear it because it seems a little desperate. But still funny.

  • We probably should make gay marriage legal because this world is becoming way too overpopulated. I have NOTHING against gay marriage. I mean, anyone is allowed to do anything they want. How would the "straight" people feel if they weren't allowed to marry each other? What if a women and a man marrying each other was wrong? I don't know if I make sense, I'm tired.

  • @ApocalypseMKW You make sense.

  • A lot of people felt uncomfortable voting for gay marriage because of religious reasons, but still feel like gay marriage should be allowed. The made up term of homophobia may still be the biggest anti-gay marriage voice, but its not the only one. Not everyone that votes against gay marriage hates homosexuals.

  • @Culture261 Nobody who votes against it has a good reason

  • @AngryAussie From a religious standpoint it would be hard voting for something you believe to be a sin. Civil rights shouldnt be a majority vote so things like Prop 8 shouldnt happen. However, it did. Im glad that gays are getting the right to marry, they deserve it. If it would have fallen on my vote however, leaving it as "marriage" and not a legal agreement of equal terms would have been a conflicting decision and to invalidate my reasons because they dont match your own is close minded.

  • @Culture261 The fictitious words of an imaginary man in the sky are a disgusting excuse for repressive behaviour.

  • @AngryAussie Thank you for illustrating my point. With that said, we do agree on the meat of the topic, homosexuals deserve every right that marriage affords heterosexuals.

  • @Cylixx3 What?
