Ray Reussner performs "Capricho Catalán" by Isaac Albeniz in the conclusion of his wonderful performance documentary entitled "Sound of the Guitar." Recorded at Mission San Antonio in Southern California (founded 14 July 1771). Part six of seven. Produced by Tyler Oliver and Ron May. Courtesy of Ray Reussner. Please note the high quality full resolution stereo DVD with additional tracks will be available soon on the website listed below.

Ray built the guitar used in this video after the famous 1937 Herman Hausser of Andres Segovia using specs of the guitar which is now in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. It is his fourteenth guitar. Since number twelve, he has made slight variations to suit his taste. This particular guitar #14 may also soon be available. Contact us through youtube. Only serious offers will be entertained.

Ray studied with Andres Segovia off and on for 20 years and carries on his legacy through an intimate knowledge of his technique and repertoire. He is also known for his famous and highly collectible Reuer guitar cases, of which Segovia would never leave home without, having owned four during his lifetime.

  • Ray in response to the gentleman comparing you to Sagovia I must say that the closer one gets to perfection the more one will be compared to the father of classical guitar. You are an artist Ray. Bravo. I enjoy your music so much.

  • I know that mission....my favorite is the one in Santa Barbara...

  • Your music convey's inner peace, very beautiful

  • sehr schön

  • Ah that is so beautiful Ray

  • Great to hear you do so beautifully!

    You're still the same...

However, your deep understanding of the guitar you love is a clear language for your poetical need to communicate beauty.

Happy New Year to you, Sylvia and Christopher!

  • very very very very very beautiful .. thanks for sharing

  • Very fine player; his sound is beautiful and if you close your eyes, you´ll really think it´s Segovia. Perhaps even more Segovia than Segovia. However, the principle bothers me: sounding like yourself rather than Segovia is preferable. This is mich better than imitation, Mr. Reussner becomes Segovia in sound, phrasing and even in the string and nail noises. I´d still prefer his own style (like other students of Segovia developed - Parkening et. al.) At any rate, a very fine guitarrist.
