An insane project! I have been to this place in 2008 and there is absolutely nothing in the area! Just a few hotels... The place around is desert, there is one town nearby (Balkanabat) - a very industrial one by the way. The place is freezing in the Winter (saw snowing on the beach at 3pm) - too hot in the summer (its desert). It is just political spin, to demonstrate the 'modernity' of the country. Also, to fill in the pockets of the government officials, who get high commisions from builder.
