@constiblejose because before it was modified, the tradition of wielding a hidden blade was that you had to make a sacrifice, in which was your left ring finger. but later it was modified so thats why ezio still has all of his.

actually, leonardo da vinci makes the hidden gun based off the codex that altair wrote. so in fact altair passed on the schematics to ezio
