The bubbling of the airlock shows that the fermentation process is working. www.stormthecastle.com/mead/index.htm for more meadmaking stuff.

  • for how long should I leave the mead fermenting before and after I transfer it to a bottle? I mean, the ideal time.

  • This will depend on a few different factors! Every batch of mead will be different. Recipe, type of yeast, temperature, how fast it fermented! You have to monitor it.

  • Yes, you can leave it in the primary ferment too long. the big risk is something called autolysis where the yeast eats its own dead husks. You need to siphon the liquid off all the sediment and into a new container.

  • I was wondering if you could help me with a question I have, could you leave a batch fermenting in the primary fermenter to long and if so what do you think would be the result? Thanks for taking your time to help
