This row of terrace houses has been a feature of Pleasley for many, many years. Now, as residents leave, they are boarded up and no doubt they will be demolished in due course, probably to make way for the linking stretch of road to be made into a dual carriageway. This will change the looks of a scene which has been there for over 100 years. Such is progress.

  • They were/are an eyesore they should have been demolished years ago. This awful eyesore needs to go and hopefully they will next knock down New Houghton ( or nu huffen ) as the inbreds call it and most of shitebrook too. Anyone thinking eyesores like these need saving should book into Millbrook ( aka the loony bin ) asap.

  • @locritas The road down through Pleasley Hill was nicely landscaped some years ago. The whole area could have been modernised and it would have lasted for many more years. I am sad to see it going..

  • This is not "Pleasley Vale", rather it is Pleasley, an entirely different place!. Pleasley was the old mining village whereas Pleasley Vale is the site of the olf William Hollins/Vyella mills, the architecture is also very different.

Of course you are correct, and I had been intending to amend the description earlier, which I have now done. Thank you. I see that demolition has now commenced in the area, starting with the church.

  • IF you drive the other way "WELCOME TO MANSFIELD".

  • @locritas These houses and more like them would have stood for another hundred years, they are more solid and better constructed than houses half their age,and from better, more hardwearing materials. Its the landlord's and others who rent to any smackhead, scruffy one parent women, undesirables just to get the assured DHSS rents that want fucking, because it this that's created the problems to start with.places don,t become shitholes overnight,it takes time and irresponsible people to really do that

  • I work at the landmark building..we host many events and have a coffee shop that is open 5 days a week..call 01623 819820 or just pop in..cheers!

I always felt that they could have been an attractive set of terraces if done up properly. The main road with the trees was made as nice as possible, but the area was left to decay, so, with regret, I have to agree that now it is better to have them demolished.
