The Rector Log Barn, built by the slaves belonging to Joseph W. Rector, stands near Melbourne and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The barn is the central feature of a farmstead still showing other signs of slave labor in the form of terraced hillsides where cotton once grew.
