nowhere in this women's description of her 'gambling nightmare' does she mention drinking and/or using drugs. yet now that she's free of here gambling addiction she's "clean & sober"?

Absolutely true. My thinking changes. I become narrow minded, self centered and delusional. By the end, the money itself means very little, the need to win is indescribable. I've been in recovery from alcohol addiction for some time now, and have to admit; I saw all of it... The insanity creeping back in. It is very similar to drugs and alcohol... Great REAL-LIFE video, that shares a valuable mesage for the benefit of all connected.

Unlike alcohol & drugs (substance based addictions) GAMBLING is different - it is a pure process addiction, that creates a form of mental entrapment.

Gambling can bankrupt families in days or weeks and it is as addictive as cocaine (meaning it can become an addiction in as few as 6 days)

Gambling is a losing proposition with painful aftermath.

Marilyn, I want to thank you for continuing to get the word out about gambling addiction. You helped drag me out of the gutter and inspired me to write my own book (Numb No More) about my own experiences, focusing mainly on recovery. GA didn't work for me, but I admire the dedication you put into forming the rooms in...well, the entire state of Arizona.

What you say is absolutely true, papermariob. However, compulsive gambling is a mental disorder and people who have this do not think in reality or logically. A lot of times it is an escape from feelings or trauma or simply an urge to keep going back.
