I think I'm dyslexic. I'm a sophomore in high school and I read at a 6th/7th grade level. I can never get the grades that I strive for on essays; there's always something wrong with them.
I find it funny how the dyslexics seem to have better spelling and grammar than most people on YouTube. That just proves that dyslexics are much smarter and more determined than the average person. =)

i have no reading problems before or even now. the only thing is, I find it so hard to comprehend in reading complicated matters (like reading deep books, subjects math) i also often got this "short term memory loss". like when i wanted to tell something and someone interferes, then in a second i forget what i am suppose to say. it's like my idea is fading away and I can't control it to stop. then it's all gone and i can't remember anything .. am i sick or am i just dumb and stupid?? PLS HELP!

I have trouble now too. people call me crazy. they laugh at me, they thought I was dumb. But I am not. I just cant read the moving letters on my page, or the words that crawl off my page like little spiders. its hard to concentrate when I read. i get terrible stomach aches and head aches. the letters dont ever stop moving. @abby2aberration i hate spelling as well. and me being in acting is a challenge because we do something called ( cold read) this means we dont get to see a scene ahead of time and practice it, we just read and go... but me having dyslexia makes it super hard, how can i freakin have emotion to something i dont understand? Ive found that by being open people will respect you and not judge u.. so when im having trouble people understand y.

Wow, this is my child! She was diagnosed in 3rd grade and has made amazing progress in reading and writing. Spelling is always going to be a challenge I'm afraid!

@susanhoy Glad to hear of her progress. Regarding spelling, you may want to check into assistive technologies like the Franklin Spell Checker for now in elementary school. As your child gets older, you may consider looking into something like Ginger Spell Checker and word prediction software.
