The Energy Hog visited Bel Air Elementary School in January to help motivate students to keep up the good work in policing energy hogs at their school. Bel Air Elementary's "SEE Squad" students hosted the Energy Hog presentation. This is one of many "SEE Squad" projects designed to continue motivating students and staff to make energy-saving behavioral changes. Between July 2008 and September 2009, Bel Air Elementary students and staff worked together to avoid nearly $37,000 in energy costs and helped the District avoid more than $550,000 in energy costs. The Energy mascot is a national effort to raise public awareness about the benefits of saving energy. He was created by the National Ad council and the Alliance to Save Energy and is brought to Bel Air Elementary by the Schools for Energy Efficiency® program. The Energy Hog puts an exciting face on the often invisible concept of energy waste.
