  • nice ship! very stealth, i am quite sure it has a low radar signature.. most destroyers will have a very difficult time detecting that ship with radar.

  • @mrcharles007 The height of the sampson radar is also designed to give maximum 'over the horizon' capacity; the higher your radar, the further over the skyline you can see surface and air contacts. That's the principle.

  • shortly afterwards it was sunk by a missile costing less than a million quid. I wont even reply to your girly comments at the end you hard as fuck keyboard warrior. Am done arguing with a dummy

  • @sw5mister Good. I bet the navy really misses you, because you seem to have nothing but nice things to say about it. If SHEFFIELD had ratings like you on board, they were fucked the second they left the wall.

FYI - the BOI stated that early C2C decisions and adequate DC could have saved the ship, plus a soft kill versus hard kill could also have done the trick, but no chaff was launched. CIWS was an afterthought back up for the fleet as part of layered defence. So kit NOT the only issue.

  • It's cut me off so I'll continue. Until quite recently invincible was part of the fleet at a few months readiness. Yeah right two yrs mire like. Look where it us now. All I was saying isdont believe everything our great mod. Say. U muppet

  • @sw5mister Negat BZ if you think It's alright to take the deaths of 20 men in vain once you're outside. It sounds like you're one of these bitter ex-matelots who run the Service down when they've left it. BTW - neither you nor I were on SHEFFIELD when it got hit, we're both too young, so how can you say it was kit that was responsible? You seem to have mixed up your distrust of MoD with a distrust of the Navy. Did you go through Colchester on your way outside and drop the soap or something?

  • Now I've went from picking up the soap to being a detriment to my ship or taking names in vain etc. Are you fully functioning ? I don't care like I said am done arguing with dummy's

  • @trenthouse4life errr it was down to kit or lack of it. Thats why all the type 42s got phallanx and the carriers were later fitted with the same or goalkeeper. Why dont you look at the board of inquiry before making your stupid ill informed comments. I didnt say i mistrusted the navy or the mod but that you cant believe everything they tell you. If you look into the history you will see it is a fact that they said sheffield was the most advanced destroyer in the world shortly

  • @ trenthouseforlife. I've been in the ship anson many times and no am not a troll. I've served on a type 42. I stand by what I said and any rating with a brain would agree. I don't even think the type 45 are at sea with missiles yet. And let's not go there about the new carriers without aircraft. Wtf. That is madness. If u think I am a troll and you can put me in a an e am out in west London earls court road most week ends. Don't believe all the crap the mod tell you . Until very recently inv

  • @sw5mister Open invite to trolls - come into the Ship Anson in Portsmouth on a Friday Night and stand at the bar and say these things. See where that gets you - my bet is A&E.
