Unring The Bell

The President has asserted Article II powers of the Constitution as justification for violating Congressional statute related to surveillance of American citizens on US soil under FISA (The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978). In this story, surveillance of a character in contravention of the FISA Statute is suspected.

BACKGROUND:

A large conglomerate called Media Incorporated initiated a contest challenging entrants to create the 'Most Viral New Website', which would be ranked according to the number of unique visitors over a one month period. Dan has created a controversial website for the contest, and begins to discover the consequences of exercising his right to free speech.

INTENT:

This movie was created to shed light on the possibility that political criticism of those in power can lead to warrantless surveillance if the Executive branch is allowed to operate outside established law, without oversight, and free from the traditional checks and balances of the Legislative and Judicial branches of government.
