This is part two of the Snugpak Softie Elite 2 Sleeping Bag, Test Part 1 Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4SMurk2rLE
Well I had the idea of testing my new snugpak sleeping system with Stratosphere Bivi Shelter. Not bad for winter set up, but may need some extras for really cold weather.

  • the moisture is a mixture of dew and your body heat generating condensation, your going to get it no mater what you do, a bivvy sleeping bag is needed tho unless u want to get wet in yur bag

  • U didnt peg the bottom of it so the material is tight. Its a tent not really a bivie bag. If it was tight i imagine it would have worked fine :)

  • I dont understand why none of these wilderness cold survival videos (not just yours) emphasize the amazing value of wool long johns ? Its what ALL the settlers HAD to wear for winter survival. plus their pants and shirts were likely wool also. Wool makes SUCH a difference for staying warm. I personally like the smartwool phd pants/zipneck at sierra trading post and other places. non-smartwool even better for warmth, as "smartwool" process is a tradeoff for washing/drying convenience.

  • Thank You-sleaping bag snugpak special force! You was wery wet,but You still hold the heat.

For others, dont buy this shelter, its cost some 160 US on ebay, but they dont work normaly. If buy, think some 100 times before. The small dry place in this sponge was small teritory under my jacket becouse I used it like a pillow.

    Stay safe.Out

  • Hello from Latvia.

Iam Latvian land forces,1 st Infantry batallion ,3 coy instructor.

    Tonight 16.09.11.I was out,on training area,from 23.00 to 03.00 was rain,start like weak,then after 01.00 start srtonger.

I was sleap in snugpak sleaping bag,and this, shelter.

maybe i got made in china(they made in chine),or here in Latvia rain is more wet than other europe, dont now,but I can say, this ,,shelter,, was toataly wet, water was inside, material was take a water like a spnge Bob!

  • I slept in my boots one night in the Whites after 20 miles, then hiked another twenty when I found my feet were swollen from the built up moisture, looking ready to crack open at the natural creases in my feet. Good idea to not wear boots while tenting through the night, lol.

  • Hi mate, just wondering if you have any updates on using the stratosphere? I wonder if CMDB201's idea of a support at the foot end would help. I am thinking of getting one but just want to know a little more. Want to know about winter use to. Cheers mate.

  • @CMDB201

Hope this helps anyone else looking to buy this bivi!
